(Apologies for longer than normal post. Precious thoughts, pray you're blessed as I was.)
Some things in our Christian life are instantaneous.
As at the time of our salvation by faith in Christ Jesus, we are made new by faith in Him.
In beginning as a babe, wanting milk not meat at first, we grow in Him everyday.
Some spirit knowledge is a deeper realisation in an aspect of our walk.
It suddenly dawns, as it is impressed upon one more and more ..

It was thus with me recently.
In a moment of real need the Lord brought clearly to mind this phrase:
"Resting in His Love".
I was being challenged to do just that.

Rest is repose.
It’s place a complete and utter child-like trust.
Trust = Rest
Trust in "the Almighty", or the El Shaddai of the Old Testament.
As well as complete faith in the Good Shepherd of the New Testament, Who giveth His life for His sheep.
Trust = Rest
Trust in "the Almighty", or the El Shaddai of the Old Testament.
As well as complete faith in the Good Shepherd of the New Testament, Who giveth His life for His sheep.
It allows no doubt to hinder that rest.
No doubt or distrust can be present if we are truly resting, there's no wandering, or wondering or presuming.
As Zeph. 3:17 says God rests in His love.
Our GOD IS LOVE!
Thus we should we rest in His Love!
His love is infinite.
Perfect!
This verse Zeph 3:17 for me now has a fresh meaning.
Oh, to always keep its freshness!

This verse Zeph 3:17 for me now has a fresh meaning.
Oh, to always keep its freshness!
“The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty;
he will save,
he will rejoice over thee with joy;
he will rest in his love,
he will joy over thee with singing.”
Zeph. 3:17
he will save,
he will rejoice over thee with joy;
he will rest in his love,
he will joy over thee with singing.”
Zeph. 3:17
At that moment last night, after a time of much prayer over various things, the clear thought:
“Resting in His love” came yet again to me.
It flashed like the lightening streaking the night sky outside.
It came truly as it says in the hymn:
“In the dark of the midnight, have I oft hid my face,
While the storm howls above me, and there’s no hiding place
'Mid the crash of the thunder, precious Lord, hear my cry
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.”
Those words mean great deal in a period of storms in my life, “When the Storm Passes By”.

God speaks like that sometimes, clearly .. strangely so.
But, oh it’s precious.
And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places; Is. 32:18
My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray.... they have forgotten their resting place. Jer. 50:6
… And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
So the difference between rest and unrest is:
belief or unbelief
.. faith or faithlessness!
It was a reaffirmation in my heart that God was in charge of my dilemma.
God IS in charge.
Not me, not any circumstances or any other person.
God Alone.
For my Beloved is mine and I am His, His banner over me is Love.
*****
Yes! God is LOVE.
Perfect Love casteth out fear.
His love... true love forgives, casts my sin as far as the east is from the west!
True love is patient, kind, thinks no evil, seeks not his own.. and all of 1 Cor. 13 attributes, which really describe ἀγάπη agápē or the deep heart love of God’s love.
For God is Love,
So as servants of the Living God the key is Rest.
Abide.
Trust in His Love.
There is Peace in Resting in His Love.

Thanks dear ones for your faithfulness in visiting here and leaving loving comments to cheer my heart. I've had mixed health but hopefully improving, as Lord wills.

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Thank you precious Shaz - I so needed to be reminded to see God and His peace this evening.
ReplyDeleteI was shocked to hear of the sudden passing of a dear friend (who was considerably younger than me) this afternoon, and it certainly rocked my world, as grief really seems to these days.
To be encouraged and reminded to seek God's peace was so timely.
Thank you, and God's richest blessings to you, dear sister
Maxine
I read your post yesterday evening, but didn't get around to commenting right away. Thank you for your recent comment - they always are encouraging to me. These thoughts about "resting in His love" stayed with me last night, and were a blessing. Thank you for sharing. It is always so special when the Lord clearly speaks to us and impresses something on our minds, isn't it? It is not very often that I experience that, but the times that I have always leaves a deep impression. The Lord gave me something like that not too long back, which I may share at some future time.
ReplyDeleteOften, I have found myself struggling with such unbelief at the thought of God's love to me...I am such a sinner...can He really love me? But when the Lord graciously has been more and more opening my eyes to my position in Christ through His finished work, and delivering me from the sin of doubting, it is such a wonderful thing to contemplate, and gives such peace! Yes, this is indeed a "rest" that He gives us in His love. Praise His Name. We do have so much to thank Him for. "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee; because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever, for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength."
Good evening dear Shaz. Thank you for this post. It has taken me a day to comment after reading it because I wanted to look up the verses for myself. As you read in my latest blog post, my anxiety has been rearing it's ugly head with all of the world events surrounding us. I struggle with worry and I know in my heart that is a sin and I have fought it since I was a young child. It's not a new thing for me, I've been like this, my sister informs me, since I was born! :-) . I was the one taking care of everyone. I have never thought of it as unbelief, for I know that God loves me more than I can imagine. I appreciate the thought and love that you put into this post my dear friend.
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for your physical struggles to ease and that you feel His peace al around you each moment.
Much love and blessings,
Betsy
Isn't is wonderful that there is a place of rest in this world of turmoil? My God supplies all I need, even rest. There is a song that says, "There is a place of quiet rest, Near to the heart of God". As we stay close to Him, he provides the rest and quiet we need. Thanks for the beautiful thoughts in this post. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteSo encouraging, dear sis. The storms are raging, and to be perfectly honest, I have been so very discouraged. Your post was a blessing to me, as always, along with the song, "Til the Storm Passes By.' God bless you always and keep you in His care and lay His healing hand upon you.
ReplyDeleteSo true, so timely, so needed. Now to do it... Thank you dear Shaz xxx
