Jesus said that we are in this world BUT not of it.
Life too often becomes hurly-burly, all consuming, and we forget this.. these were my thoughts as I read this Daily Light portion.
The word Satisfied came to mind.
Here they are for your meditation and contemplation.
God's word anchors our thoughts like nothing else.
As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.

He satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. Psa. 107:9
Ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. I Pet. 2:3
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; to see thy power and thy glory. Psa. 63:1, 2
My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. Psa. 84:2
Having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better. Phil. 1:23
I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness. Psa. 17:15
They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. Rev. 7:16, 17
They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. Psa. 36:8
My people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD. Jer. 31:14

How often are we satisfied with God's goodness?
Sadly I'm often not.
Too often stressing over a seemingly imperfect result in some situation, fretting because its not as I wanted, or longing for some thing not in God's plan for me at moment.
Groaning inwardly over seemingly unanswered prayer or unresolved grief of heart with another.
This was me recently proabably in ALL those scenarios if truth be known!
*sigh*
How much peace lost?
Faith lost?
Spirit quenched?
O Lord, help us to walk as Jesus walked, as Paul lived and taught, too.
" Godliness with contentment is great gain."
Contented = Satisfied 😊

Thanks for your patience and for visiting my blog, I've been quiet because of that hurly burly of which I was speaking. It's summer hols here (which I love), so had visitors, visiting or just out every day!
Thankful to Lord for much rain fallen but much more needed.
May the Lord bless you dear ones, send spiritual rain on sad, lost, hurting hearts, and physical rain on parched lands. May God bless our nations and leaders EVERYwhere! and keep us in His ways in all things. A special huge thanks if you take the time to comment. It's appreciated.
Prayer hugs,🙏🤗

Never forget - Never Again
27th Jan is 75th Anniversary of Liberation of Auschwitz.
Everyone on those rings is a Jewish family destroyed over 1 million in just Auschwitz. Those bales likewise of human hair were how many lives taken? They saved teeth for gold fillings etc. Incredibly heartbreaking.

Oh yes Dear Sister, how often we forfeit our peace and contentment by letting the 'world' distract and attempt to destroy us!
ReplyDeletePraying we will keep our eyes on Jesus and our hearts praising God at all times and in all circumstances
Blessings

He is the restorer of my soul and I have to conciously set aside time daily to talk with Him. Life gets so busy and yet, if we just take a few moments alone to pray, things seem to go much, much smoother.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you've had time to enjoy your company and that some rain has fallen. I will continue to pray for even more.
Blessings,
Betsy
Mansion over the hill top love that song. Have a good day Sharon. xo
ReplyDeleteThis truly touched my heart. Continuing to pray for you and NSW.
ReplyDeleteThese verses were good to read...actually I decided to look up the entire chapter of Psalm 107, and what a blessing that was to me. Over and over the Lord had mercy on His people after He had brought them low for their sins. He is the same today as He was then. Though a lengthy trial keeps persisting in my life for years now, it brought fresh courage to my heart to claim these promises of mercy and grace to bring relief to me also, as He did for them. And He does satisfy my heart as I claim His Word in prayer. You know, was thinking on a verse in Lamentations 3:25 just a few days ago, which is an encouragement to me during hard times, and it was suddenly as if the Lord opened my eyes to see something "new" that was there all the time. It says "The LORD is good unto them that wait for Him..." He IS good to them...now even while they are waiting. Not just sometime in the future once they receive the answer they are seeking will the Lord be good to them...but He IS NOW! It is something I should have seen before, it is so plain.
ReplyDeleteHave been praying for you, - we all fail so much and so easily, don't we? I know I do! I am so ashamed at many times that I completely forget many of these things, and dishonor the Lord by my lack of faith. Our failures make us flee more to our Saviour! That is a wonderful place to be. We never can be strong in ourselves and sometimes our very failings come as blessings to drae us near to Him in humility. Thank the Lord for His mercy!
So hard to think of it being summer for you while we are having snow and ice. :) I am looking forward to when it warms up here.
I know I'm guilty of not being satisfied with God's goodness. I stressing over everything even though I pray constantly. Sometimes I have to just tell myself that God has got this and just turn it over to Him! But sadly, I'm a sinner and of original sin and don't always do this. I don't lose faith, but my faith will wane at times or sometimes I just get plain mad at the Lord. Then I am apologizing to the Lord. Yes, I am a sinner, but a sinner who believes in the Lord with all my heart, even though I don't always follow Him as I should. Thanks for this reminder Sharon, it is a good one! Sending much love and prayers your way, Brenda
ReplyDeleteI am being taken through the act of obedience of being content. I had not realised how much I complain... it's horrible to have God highlight this in my life but come the day I am free from this sin, oh what joy!
ReplyDeleteI do feel that the older you get the more you can be satisfied with all that goes on in your life and with what you have, at least that is how it has been for me, even if I don't have what others have I am satisfied by the grace God has given to me, the peace he washes over me :)
